What's in a Pronoun

A short film centering the non-binary experience

Video Production

Challenge

We were invited to produce a short film and host a session on the main stage at Cannes Lions. What's in a Pronoun, which premiered at Cannes Lions 2019, is a short film centering the non-binary experience on and off camera. Our production crew was almost entirely queer, non-binary, and/or transgender. The intentional hiring was (and is always) very important to us as we advocate for letting people tell their own stories both in front of and behind the lens. We also produced a print zine that included additional information and was distributed for free during the festival as well as in NYC.

Results

We centered our discussion at Cannes Lions on diversity with a specific focus on non-binary and trans communities. To accompany this session we produced What's in a Pronoun, a short film centering the non-binary experience on and off camera.
